Importance of Time Management

Time and Its Role in the Learning Process

Another important part of learning is the time you spend studying. From the very beginning of your training with us, we encourage you to learn how to value your time. Keep track of the time you spend on lessons, tests, homework, practice, and other activities. The best way to do this is by recording it in your yoga diary. This practice helps you “feel time” and develop a clear, intuitive sense of it.

Good time management is an essential skill for personal growth.

In today’s busy world, it’s easy to lose track of how to use time wisely. Much of our time can go to activities like social media, watching TV shows, or playing video games. This doesn’t mean these activities should be avoided entirely—taking a break with something simple and familiar can give the mind a chance to refresh and regain focus.

The challenge arises when these activities begin to dominate our time without awareness or control. As a result, too much time may be spent on some things and too little on others that are truly meaningful. Yoga teaches that there is enough time in life to achieve all our important goals—but no time should be spent on unnecessary or unhelpful activities.

Many of the problems we face in life—ranging from material to spiritual—stem from an inability to manage our time effectively. Sometimes people believe that difficulties are caused by so-called bad karma. In reality, the cause is often much simpler: it happens because a person is careless in how they use their time. In other words, what is sometimes called negative karma often shows up as an inability to recognize the importance of the time factor in life.

A person may work when it’s time to rest and rest when it’s time to work. Yoga teaches that everyone needs balance, harmony, and a sense of the natural rhythm of the universe. This understanding comes from the so-called Law of Ṛita, a fundamental principle of the Ancient Vedas, the cradle of yoga.

Many people who begin studying with us sometimes feel frustrated by the need to track their time, thinking it might be a waste. We understand this may feel inconvenient. However, this practice is necessary—without it, it will be difficult to achieve good results in your studies, especially when exploring advanced areas of yoga. A little discomfort now will lead to greater success in the future. We have seen this happen many times with our students.

It is recommended to complete the courses within a reasonable timeframe. This approach helps you achieve the best results. Keeping track of your time will allow you to feel proud of the hours you’ve spent productively and avoid wasting it.

Historically, people have not paid much attention to time, and this is at the root of many problems in life. It is not about whether you spend a lot or a little time on an activity—it is about being aware of it.

These courses are designed to help you learn to value your time. When you develop a sense of time, you can establish the right rhythm in life and move closer to understanding the grand, harmonious laws of the universe. Ignoring or disrespecting this rhythm often leads to difficulties.

If we keep putting things off until tomorrow, that tomorrow may never come. It takes considerable effort to break free from this cycle.

Time is the most irreplaceable resource in life and in personal growth.

We have seen many capable people struggle with this challenge. The only way to overcome it is through discipline and careful planning.
